What is happening this year?

Sunday 16th July 

Take part in a treasure hunt or step back in time with a vintage twist. 

  • 10:00 - Junior & Senior Treasure hunts - Starts and finishes at the Castle 
  • 10:30 - Rhayader & District Vintage show - At the Smithfield (Free Entry)
  • 16:00 - Vintage Rally procession around town. 
  • 17:30 - Car Treasure Hunt - starts at the main Car park.  

Monday 17th July 

Tonight its all about the kids at the beginning and the adults at the end. 

  •  All week there will be an exhibition being held at St Clements put together by local organisations from 13.00 - 17.00
  • 15.30 Children' Sports and bike challenge - At Rhayader Primary School 
  • 19:00 The 'Grand' Quiz - at the Lion Royal

Tuesday 18th July

The title says it all for this event.

Gwastedyn hill race

  • 18:00 Registration opens - Rhayader leisure centre
  • 19:30  Junior race - from the Smithfield
  • 19:40 Senior race - from the Smithfield


Wednesday 19th July

Time to become a 'World' Champion (well a champion of Rhayader anyway)

  • 18:00 - Welly wanging - at the Smithfield 
  • 19:00 - Junior wheelbarrow race - starts at the Smithfield 
  • 19:30 - Senior Wheelbarrow race - Starts at the Smithfield 
  • 21:00 - Rock, paper, scissors comp - at the lamb 

Thursday 20th July 

All about the fire station, but not until we have had our lunch with the teddies. 

  • 12:00 - Teddy bears picnic - at the cricket/football pitch, Bryntirion. 

Its a Knockout @ The Fire Station.

  • 17:30 Registration opens for juniors 
  • 18:30 Registration opens for Adults

Friday 21st July

The Groe Gathering (back on the Groe)

  • 18:00 Live music, food and more at this family friendly event. 

Carnival Darts Competition (Organised by Dartbox)

Registration from 7pm at the Castle 

Saturday 22nd July 

The BIG day 

  • 12:30 Assembly of entrants at Smithfield 
  • 13:00 Judging 
  • 14:15 Grand Procession 
  • 15:15 Crowning Ceremony & prize giving at the Groe Cwmdauddwr 
  • 15:30 Enjoy all we have on offer at the Groe 
  • 13:00 - 17:00 exhibition at St Clements put together by local organisations 
  • 10:00 - 16:00 Family open day at st Brides Church - all past records available to browse.
